Founded on the scientifically proven notion that resilience skills can be learned and applied to everyday life, the Resilience Resource Center, a new nonprofit organization, officially opened its doors in fall 2023.

Since then, the Huntingdon Valley-based center has been up and running with weekly youth group gatherings, as well as a variety of LGBTQ+ support groups, career support and training offerings, weekly coffeehouse events, low-cost mental health counseling and more.

On May 19, the Resilience Resource Center will open wide its doors to welcome the community to share more about the organization’s work serving marginalized groups in Montgomery County, Philadelphia, Bucks County, and the greater Philadelphia region as a whole.

During the open house, guests can experience the low-key coffeehouse vibe of the center while learning more about its services and how its volunteers strive to make a difference in the lives of its largely LGBTQ+ audience. Resilience Resource Center board members will share insight on the their respective areas of expertise, including the youth program, which features weekly arts/crafts, games and other fun activities for teens; career counseling and career development, which includes job searches and resume help; mental health counseling; and an overview of other support groups.

The common thread among all programs is that the community-centered organization focuses its work on initiatives that foster resilience skills, empowering marginalized groups with the tools needed to bounce back when faced with adversity.

Resilience Resource Center’s open house is sponsored by  Rudolph Clarke, LLC and William R. May Funeral Home, Inc.
