A Bucks County man allegedly vandalized the interior of a police vehicle and punched a hole through a wall inside Lower Saucon Township Police Station after becoming "irate” on Sunday, March 17, according to Lower Saucon Township Police.
Daniel James Wright, 21, of Perkasie, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of institutional vandalism, two misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct by using obscene language or gestures, and summary defiant trespassing.
According to Saucon Source, Wright is accused of intentionally ripping out communication system wires behind a panel in a police car while in custody.
Per the report, officers were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. for a report of an accident at Polk Valley and Lower Saucon roads. Additionally, police were advised of a potentially intoxicated driver and a passenger who may have an active arrest warrant, according to the article.
At the scene, Wright allegedly walked away from the crash site, disobeying officers’ orders to stop, police said. According to Saucon Source, police allege Wright struggled during the arrest, and after taken into custody, he told bystanders to "suck my balls” and then made a homophobic slur at them.
In the end, Wright was told he had no active warrant, would receive charges in the mail, and was given a courtesy transport to Lower Saucon Township Police to wait for a ride, per the report. Then, once at the station, he punched a hole in the drywall in the lobby, police said.
Wright was arraigned on the charges March 18 before Northampton County District Judge Susan Hutnik, who set bail at $5,000 unsecured, per the criminal docket. A preliminary hearing is set before District Judge Alan Roger Mege on March 28 at 9 a.m.
