Man accused of burglary after attempting to enter Upper Gwynedd home, police say

A 30-year-old Philadelphia man is facing a single felony count of burglary after Upper Gwynedd Township Police said he attempted to enter a home on the 700 block of Stoler Avenue, a cul-de-sac located off Whites Road near the park, on the afternoon of March 19.

Police said Chad Marshall Krug, of the 2800 block of Normandy Drive, not only allegedly attempted to open the front door of the unoccupied home but was also later taken into custody for a separate alleged retail theft at the Wawa at 1601 Valley Forge Road in Towamencin.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 4 at 10 a.m. before District Judge Suzan Leonard. Krug is free on $50,000 unsecured bail, according to court records.

According to the criminal complaint, the resident called police and showed them security video footage from the front door of the home. The video allegedly shows a white male, police said, wearing black sweatpants with white stripes down the side, and a black and green jacket approach the side of the house on a bicycle.

The individual, alleged to be Krug, gets off the bike, walks to the front door and looks around, police said. He then allegedly attempted to open the front door without success, per the complaint. Krug then allegedly gets back on the bike and leaves the area.

Police were able to identify Krug from prior contacts earlier in the day, police said.

According to the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System, Krug has one active criminal drug possession and purchase case in Philadelphia County from a September 2023 arrest. Krug is being charged as a codefendant in that case along with Caleb Rivera, according to court records.

A bench warrant hearing is scheduled for April 3 in Municipal Court of Philadelphia County, according to the criminal docket.

Krug has been arrested seven times on criminal charges in Montgomery, Bucks and Philadelphia counties since 2012, according to court records.

His last arrest in Montgomery County was 11 years ago on two felony theft charges in Lansdale Borough. Krug pleaded guilty in April 2014 to both offenses and was given a concurrent sentence of one to three years in prison, plus five years’ probation, in April 2016.
