North Penn students – get those brains working on the next best STEM project.
The North Penn High School National Honor Society, led by advisor Michelle Mclarnon and co-advisor Emily Lynam, is running a "Grow in STEM” event at the high school cafeteria on April 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participation formsare due Wednesday.
The event will have students showcasing science experiments made at home or in school.
Furthermore, there will be hands-on demonstrations run by the high school STEM clubs and other outside organizations, according to NHS.
McLarnon and Lynam recommend students stick to an experimental project or an exploratory one. Students are also asked to use one trifold or poster board.
For an experimental project, students are asked to perform and explain the results of an experiment. The science fair board should include a question, a hypothesis, a list of materials, steps completed in the experiment, an explanation of the science behind the project, and a statement about what was learned during the experiment, according to NHS.
For an exploratory project, students are asked to research a topic that piques their interest. The exploratory project board should include a question, a creative display explaining what was learned by using art, pictures, graphs, and a list of sources used in the project, be it books, websites, pictures or other items.
The "Grow in STEM” project allows students to add pictures, models, decorations and the like to make the project unique.
Participants should arrive at the school at 10 a.m. on the day of the event through the main entrance. Students will have one hour to setup before the 11 a.m. kickoff.
Fill out this Google Form by Wednesday evening to confirm participation and project information.
