Cause of Wednesday Morning Fire in Montgomeryville Under Investigation

The cause of a Wednesday morning fire that left the clubhouse at Village of Neshaminy Falls in ruins is currently under investigation.

First responders were dispatched to the 100 block of Stump Road in Montgomery Township at 5:38 a.m. on March 20 for a report of a building fire. Dispatch notes indicate there were visible flames and heavy smoke coming from the development’s single-story clubhouse, which was confirmed by police upon arrival.

A second alarm was struck just before 6:30 a.m. to bring in additional manpower and resources to battle the blaze, and a portion of Stump Road was closed as crews worked the scene.

According to Montgomery Township Fire Marshal Bill Wiegman, firefighters battled the blaze for two hours before being able to place the fire under control, with the structure being described by Wiegman as "a complete loss.”

No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to any nearby buildings or vehicles, Wiegman said.

Fire crews remained on scene for several hours Wednesday morning and were eventually re-dispatched to the area Wednesday afternoon to extinguish a minor rekindling within the wreckage.

Responding units included Montgomery Township Police, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Colmar Fire Company, Hatfield Fire Company, Wissahickon Fire Company, Hilltown Fire Company, Fairmount Fire Company, Horsham Fire Company, Telford Fire Company, Towamencin Fire Company, Upper Gwynedd Fire Department, Worcester Fire Company, Skippack Fire Company, Fort Washington Fire Company, Harleysville Fire Company, and other area agencies.
