Five North Penn NMTCC Biomedical Technology Students Clinch First in State Debate

If anyone needs a Biomedical Debate Team in the future, call North Penn School District.

Five North Penn students – four seniors and junior Kenzie Price – took home multiple acclaims last week at the PENN HOSA State Leadership Conference, as part of North Montco Technical Career Center’s Health Sciences and Biomedical Technology program.

North Penn seniors Kylie Cooke, Leila Eid, Alessandra Miller, and Harshil Jain clinched first place in the debate.

The State Leadership Conference, organized by PENN HOSA, offers students the platform to apply the knowledge gained from their Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses to competitive events, according to Suzette McHugh of NMTCC.

The conference, which attracts more than 1,000 students from across the state, serves as an avenue for leadership development, networking, and personal growth, McHugh said.

Congratulations to the following North Montco Technical Career Center medal winners:

1st place CPR/First Aid Team: Alexandra Guarini – Methacton, 11th grade, Health Sciences Kenzie Price - North Penn, 11th grade, Health Sciences

1st place Biomedical Debate Team:

4th place Healthcare Issues Exam:

First-place medal winners from this conference have earned eligibility to compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference, scheduled for June, according to McHugh.

"All of the North Montco competitors showcased their dedication and hard work. Their remarkable efforts have not only brought pride to themselves but have also reflected positively on North Montco Technical Career Center. We are very proud of our students,” said Marnie Black, biomedical technology teacher and HOSA Advisor.

According to NMTCC, HOSA, a globally recognized student-led organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, and various federal and state agencies, aims to empower future health professionals. Through education, collaboration, and practical experience, HOSA cultivates leadership skills in its members, preparing them for roles in the global health community.
