A 28-year-old man was hospitalized Friday night after his vehicle struck a utility pole along the 200 block of Cowpath Road in Hatfield Township.
First responders were dispatched to the scene at 8:27 p.m. on March 15 for a report of a single-vehicle accident with injuries. Arriving police located a gray Dodge Charger with heavy front-end damage caused by the impact with the pole, and the driver still seated inside.
Investigators said the crash occurred after the driver suffered an undisclosed medical emergency. He was transported from the scene via ambulance to Grand View Hospital for treatment, according to police.
Portions of Cowpath Road were closed for approximately three hours as crews worked to process and clear the scene. The vehicle was towed, and crews had to repair the utility pole, police said.
Hatfield Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Lower Salford Police Department and VMSC Emergency Medical Services.
