Montgomery County officials authorized more than $3 million in contracts recently, with a majority going to temporary office space amid the ongoing Montgomery County Justice Center construction project.
A more than $1.3 million agreement with four Pennsylvania providers covered "construction services to facilitate temporary office swing space in One Montgomery Plaza.”
The entire contract "in relation to the justice center project” amounted to $1,306,521.
PJ Dick Inc, of Pittsburgh, was awarded a $744,000 general construction contract; Conshohocken-based Whitemarsh Electric Inc. was awarded a roughly $263,221 electrical contract; Guy M. Cooper Inc., dba Cooper Mechanical Solutions, of Willow Grove, was awarded a $249,800 mechanical contract; and a $49,500 contract was awarded to Oliver Fire Protection & Security, of King of Prussia, for fire protection and plumbing services.
Funding for the seven-figure contract was obtained through the county’s capital improvement program budget. A previously advertised request for proposals netted views from 40 companies. Other submissions for the General construction and electrical contracts included L J Paolella Construction Inc, of Brookhaven, and Hobbs & Company Inc., of Boothwyn, respectively. Both firms are located in Delaware County, but were not selected by Montgomery County officials.
Another $451,500 agreement with the Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center, of East Norriton, was renewed for a third time during the March 7 meeting. The six-figure contract covered forensic interviewing as well as family and victim advocacy services for "law enforcement officials investigating allegations of child sexual abuse.”
The agreement stipulates $201,500 will cover services at the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, while $250,000 will go to the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth. Funds were secured through the county’s general-operational budget.
Additionally, a roughly $180,775 agreement with SHI International, of Somerset, New Jersey, secured the GovLink E-filing system for the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas’ Domestic Relations division.
The e-filing system is expected to "streamline the workflow, enabling clients and attorneys to file documents for new and existing cases efficiently,” the contract states, with digital services including electronic filing, document management, reporting, and permissions.
Software installation is not required through the "browser-based application,” according to the contract. The software’s system and related support services were supplied by way of a Sourcewell cooperative contract, according to the agreement, which was funded through the county’s capital improvement program.
The next Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 21 on the eighth floor of One Montgomery Plaza, 425 Swede St., Norristown. Those interested can also attend the meeting virtually. Visit montgomerycountypa.gov for more information.
