On Saturday, armed with nothing but soap, water, and a whole lot of determination, a bucket brigade of skilled scholars from North Montco Technical Career Center will have a mission to make Towamencin’s fire trucks shine.
These select students on Saturday are set to compete in a skill showdown at the upcoming SkillsUSA American Spirit showcase. Meanwhile, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Co. Bustard Road station, the students will not be scrubbing sedans or SUVS, but something a bit more … fiery.
According to a press release, the students are gearing up in support of their patriotic and citizenship endeavors. By rolling up sleeves and lending a hand by washing fire trucks, it symbolizes their commitment to serving the community, per the release.
On Friday, the students visited Wissahickon Middle School for career day, where they showcased various items from their programs, according to the school. The visit was meant to inspire the next generation of students who are interested in opportunities in career and technical education, according to the release.
Earlier this month, the students spent time at Morningside House in Towamencin, delivering cookies prepared by students in the school’s Baking & Pastry Arts program. The Graphic Arts program also pitched in; its students personalized handcrafted greeting cards for the senior citizens.
