A pair of staffers at Penndale Middle School have been placed on administrative leave following widespread rumors that they were caught engaging in sexual activities in a school classroom last week.
Rumors of the incident began to swirl on social media late last week, indicating that a male teacher and a female educational support staffer were allegedly interrupted while engaged in sexual activities in a classroom during school hours on Monday, March 4. Sources who provided information to North Penn Now on the condition of anonymity said no students were in the classroom at the time of the alleged incident, but students across the school were aware of the alleged incident.
Multiple sources also indicated neither staffer had been present at the school since March 4.
In response to a request for comment from this news organization, a spokesperson for North Penn School District declined to confirm the allegations, but provided a statement confirming two staffers were placed on administrative leave for "unprofessional conduct.”
"North Penn School District received a report of unprofessional conduct involving two staff members at Penndale Middle School. No students were involved in the matter,” said Christine Liberaski, Director of School and Community Engagement for North Penn School District. "The employees were immediately placed on administrative leave pending further action. As this is a personnel matter, no further information can be shared at this time.”
The identities of the two staffers have not been released, as they have not been charged with any criminal offenses. When reached for comment, Lansdale Borough Police Chief Mike Trail said his department was not investigating the allegations, as they don’t rise to the level of a criminal offense.
"Provided no children were involved and it was not done in front of students, it would be an employee or personnel matter, and not a criminal one,” Trail said.
The alleged incident comes less than two months after North Penn School District and Lansdale Borough Police Department confirmed they were investigating allegations that a different teacher at Penndale Middle School had groped a female student while she was preparing to get on the bus in October 2023. That teacher was also immediately placed on administrative leave, however follow up coverage showed the teacher remained involved in the curriculum while on leave, including having direct contact with students and their families.
That investigation remains ongoing, though no criminal charges have been filed to date.
