Hilltown Township Police are attempting to identify a man who dragged $166 in stolen merchandise, including beer and dog food, from the Giant Food Stores in Hilltown last month, in a shopping cart to his SUV, after the theft-deterrent cart wheels locked up upon his exit.
Police said a very tall man entered the grocery store at Hilltown Shopping Center, 760 Route 113, at 4:25 p.m. Feb. 25. He selected various items, including Victory Sour Monkey and Southern Tier beers, and dog food, and then tried to conceal the items inside reusable bags, police said.
When exiting the store, the shopping cart's wheels locked, as unpaid merchandise was detected, police said.
Instead of being deterred by this, police said the shoplifter dragged the shopping cart to his red SUV.
