Former Teen Babysitter Gets Jail Time, Probation for Molesting Young Boy

Camryn Taylor, 20, of Quakertown.

A former teen babysitter in Bucks County has been sentenced to jail time and probation after pleading guilty to molesting a 5-year-old boy in Chalfont on multiple occasions.

As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, 20-year-old Camryn Taylor, of Quakertown, pleaded guilty in December to felony counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age and endangering the welfare of children. On Wednesday, Taylor was sentenced to 6 to 23 months at the Bucks County Correctional Facility followed by five years’ probation, with the remaining counts of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, and corruption of minors being dropped in exchange for her plea.

Sentencing notes indicate that upon Taylor’s release, she must either be enrolled in school and be working part time, or she must find full-time employment within 30 days. Taylor was also ordered to pay court costs, $587.17 in restitution, and to continue taking medication and undergo mental health treatment as directed.

Judge Charissa Liller additionally ordered Taylor be placed on sex offender supervision and she is prohibited from having any contact with the victim.

Investigators were contacted in early April 2023 by the mother of the boy, stating her son had indicated he was being molested by his babysitter — identified as Taylor — according to the criminal complaint. The victim indicated that Taylor molested him on multiple occasions while she was babysitting at their home, showing her private areas to the boy, and forcing him to touch them, police said.

During a forensic interview with the Bucks County Child Advocacy Center, the boy said the abuse began when he was 4 years old and provided additional details, adding that Taylor told him not to tell anyone, according to the complaint.

Taylor was interviewed by police on May 30, 2023, at which point she subsequently admitted that at least one of the incidents detailed by the victim had occurred, police said. Charges were filed against Taylor on June 12, 2023 and she was taken into custody several days later.

In the days following Taylor’s arrest, North Penn Now learned that she had been employed as a part-time staffer at Kiddie Academy of Quakertown. In response to questions from this news organization, Kiddie Academy owner Janel A. Work confirmed that Taylor was a part-time employee at the facility from January 2021 through April 2023. Work said the allegations against Taylor were unrelated to her work there, and she was no longer an employee.

Work declined to comment further or answer follow-up questions, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.

Taylor, who was represented by Sara M. Webster, Esq., has remained free on 10% of $50,000 cash bail since her arrest, meaning there is no credit provided for any time served.

According to a spokesperson for the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, Taylor has a lifetime sex offender registration requirement under Megan's Law. She is also prohibited from contact with children under the terms of her sex offender supervision and probation.
