Police confirm two victims of Bethlehem Pike crash have died, investigation continues

North Penn Now has learned that an elderly couple injured in a two-vehicle crash and subsequent rescue June 8 at Bethlehem Pike and Bergey Road have passed away from their injuries suffered in the collision. 

When contacted for comment, Hatfield Police Chief Bill Tierney confirmed that two victims died.

"The entire crash is still under investigation," Tierney said. "The investigators are still piecing everything together, as they would in every instance of this nature."

The accident occurred at 4:58 p.m. and closed Bergey Road for more than four hours. Towamencin and Lower Gwynedd police departments assisted Hatfield Police at the scene, as part of the North Penn Area Crash Team, police said.

Four people in all were sent to Grand View Hospital by VMSC EMS.

A 20-year-old man, driving a light blue 2011 Ford Escape, collided into a white 2021 Toyota Camry, driven by a 58-year-old man, police said. The driver had to be rescued from the Toyota.

Grand View Hospital paramedics were called to the scene to assist VMSC Emergency Medical Services.

At the time of the accident, police said two of the injured suffered serious injuries.

 At this time, the names of those involved are not being released and the investigation remains active.
