A driver was taken into custody Saturday night for suspicion of DUI after crashing into a utility pole and snapping it near its base on Cowpath Road.

Franconia Township Police said there were no injuries in the 9:54 p.m. crash on Cowpath Road near Church Road. According to authorities, a caller reported hearing a crash at that time, but could not see it from their location.

Upon arrival, police found a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck smashed into the pole, after turning right from Church Road onto Cowpath Road. Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The crash snapped the pole onto the hood and roof of the pickup truck, and brought wires down across the street, which landed on a white sedan driving the opposite direction.
