Charges pending in Harleysville Pike crash that injured 4 elderly Warrington residents

Franconia Township Police said Tuesday that charges are pending in the two-vehicle crash Saturday night on Harleysville Pike that injured four people.

Police said the accident at the intersection of Allentown Road at 7:15 p.m. involved the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck running a red light while traveling west on Harleysville Pike/Route 113.

The Silverado struck a Subaru Outback on the driver’s side as it was heading south on Allentown Road, police said.

Four persons from Warrington Township were injured in the Subaru, police said. The 72-year-old male driver and the 71-year-old female passenger sitting behind him had to be extricated by Perseverance Fire Co., and all four were taken to Grand View Hospital, police said, by VMSC EMS and Plymouth Community Ambulance.

Also injured in the crash were an 80-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman, police said. A witness remained on scene and provided police with information.

Harleysville Pike and Allentown Road were closed temporarily. The scene was cleared at 8:38 p.m.

In addition to the two EMS companies, Franconia Township Police were assisted at the scene by Souderton Borough Police, Telford Borough Police, Perseverance Fire Co., and Perseverance Fire Police.
