As a thank you to community members and clients on its 5th anniversary, Skippack Pharmacy is ramping up for an evening community celebration on June 28 at the Montgomery County 4-H Center.

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the center at 1015 Bridge Road, Collegeville. RSVPs are required due to the expected turnout and can be done at www.skippackpharmacy.com.

Dr. Mayank Amin, aka Dr. Mak, wrote on his Facebook page about a moment in 2018 when he was walking out of a shift at Walgreens and saw its reader board: “Welcome Skippack Pharmacy patients!”

Amin initially thought nothing of it, having never heard of the small family-owned pharmacy or ever shopped at one before. He learned that the original Skippack Pharmacy of 50 years had sold to CVS, he wrote.

“Curious, I drove over to the Skippack parking lot the next day and noticed patients upset, especially seniors, who were in disbelief and couldn’t accept the red CVS signs which stated their pharmacy had closed,” Amin wrote. “Life was great as a wedding planner planning lavish weddings across the world (as Platinum Dream Events), but the sign sparked an idea.”

Thus, Amin came up with a solution.

“I wasn’t just going to reopen this pharmacy up for our community, but make this pharmacy theirs. The rest is history,” he said.

In five years, Skippack Pharmacy has helped more than 100,000 patients, and now it is time to give back.

“Small business isn’t dead, if your village has your back,” Amin, a North Penn High School alum and Villanova University graduate, wrote.

The party will feature free food and drinks, free giveaways and outdoor games. Live band Former Strangers is set to play and there will also be a Touch-A-Truck activity.

“We salute and honor our patients and community’s superheroes for choosing local and helping us on our mission to serve thousands of people during one of the toughest times in history,” according to the announcement flyer.
