A Quakertown man has been sentenced to jail and probation for repeatedly groping a juvenile female in Lansdale over a one-year period.

Edison Guerrero Tejada, 35, was sentenced last week to 11½ to 23 months in county jail, followed by three years’ probation, court records show. The sentence comes nine months after a jury found Guerrero Tejada guilty of one felony count of corruption of minors and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, following a three-day trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse.

Sentencing notes indicate Guerrero Tejada will be placed on sex offender supervision throughout the duration of his probation period, and he must also register as a sex offender for 25 years under Megan’s Law.

“The court performed an individualized assessment and determines that the conditions imposed herein are necessary and constitute the least restrictive means available to promote the defendant’s rehabilitation and the public’s protection,” reads a portion of the sentencing notes.

Guerrero Tejada is also prohibited from having any contact with the victim, court records show.

The investigation began in January 2022, after police received a Childline referral regarding a 13-year-old female who disclosed to her school counselor that Guerrero Tejada had inappropriate physical contact with her on multiple occasions. Police interviewed the victim several days later, at which point she said Guerrero Tejada had inappropriately touched her while giving massages dating back to when she was 12, according to charging documents.

During the most recent incident, the victim said she went out of her way to avoid him, at which point he attempted to apologize, the report states. Guerrero Tejada then tried to call the victim, however she did not answer him, police said.

“Edison Javier Guerrero Tejada engaged in a course of conduct initiated by his own sexual desire, without concern for age and consent,” reads a portion of the criminal complaint.

Police said Guerrero Tejada was known to the victim, meaning the incidents were not random.

Charges were filed against Guerrero Tejada on March 24, 2022, and he was taken into custody on April 4, 2022 and arraigned by District Judge Francis Lawrence Jr., who set bail at $250,000 cash. A bail review hearing was held the following day, at which point Guerrero Tejada’s bail was reduced to 10% of $50,000 cash, which he posted two days later, court records show.
