Two Lansdale residents who were on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle – a 43-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman – were taken to Einstein Hospital in critical condition by VMSC EMS Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash at Sumneytown Pike and Willowyck Lane, Upper Gwynedd Township Police Chief David Duffy said Tuesday morning.

Police said the motorcycle driver was eastbound on Sumneytown Pike at 11:52 a.m., when an Amazon truck turned in front of it. The motorcycle struck the rear bumper of the truck, police said.

An investigation continues, and Duffy has not determined the direction of the Amazon truck.

The eastbound lanes of Sumneytown Pike were closed, but the road was kept open in both directions, police said. The scene was cleared by 12:25 p.m.

Duffy said any charges filed as a result of the accident will be determined when the investigation is complete.

Upper Gwynedd Township Police were assisted at the scene by Upper Gwynedd Fire Department, VMSC, the Upper Gwynedd Township fire marshal, and North Penn Fire Co. Fire Police.
