Indian Creek Foundation is excited to get summer underway with their 33rd Annual Roll Stroll & Run fundraiser on Saturday, June 15. The walk, run, and cycling event hosts about 300 participants and volunteers for a busy day of community activities.
The Roll Stroll & Run is a unique experience in that participants will arrive at different times to get started on their events. Cyclists take off the earliest, starting at 7 a.m. from the 420 Cowpath Road campus in Souderton. Runners for the timed 5k have a 9 a.m. race time, and walkers will depart starting at 10 a.m.
All participants will end their events back at Indian Creek Foundation, where they will enjoy post-race snacks, lunch, activities, and entertainment. Many of the individuals who live in the Indian Creek Residential program and their families arrive by lunchtime to mingle with participants and enjoy the picnic. The day’s festivities will include remarks and announcements, and everything is expected to wrap up by about 2 p.m..
“This is our big community day for anyone and everyone,” said Brett Wells, director of development. “Because we host this event from our main campus, it’s convenient for our residents and program members to join in the fun and get to know some of the folks who support our foundation.”
Registration is still open for all events, including bike rides ranging from 10 to 62 miles, a timed 5k run, and 1k or 5k walks. Participants are encouraged to form teams and to maximize their contributions by creating and sharing a fundraising page.
The Roll Stroll & Run is also still in need of volunteers. Individuals, families, and small groups are encouraged to volunteer as Rest Stop managers on the bike courses, as well as in other capacities on the main site. All volunteers will receive a T-shirt and are invited to enjoy the post event lunch and entertainment.
“We like to make sure our volunteers always have a great time,” said Beth Healy, special events and community relations coordinator. “Indian Creek is a fun place to work and to receive services, so naturally it’s one of the best places to volunteer, too. We really enjoy having families, community groups, and work teams come to help at our events. Volunteers help us keep things running smoothly, and they always get to learn more about the work we do here. Most people sign up to volunteer again because they have so much fun.”
The post-event picnic will feature a Beer Garden, moon bounce, family lawn games, and lively music. Members of the Board of Directors and the Leadership Team will also be available to offer tours of the campus. The proceeds of the Roll Stroll & Run are used to improve and maintain Indian Creek’s 25 residential homes in the community. Recent updates include structural improvements, new landscaping, accessibility features, and fresh paint for the interior of several properties.
“We have groups who have been participating in this event every year for multiple years, and we really enjoy these reunions,” said Wells. “We appreciate the fundraising that our event participants do to grow their contributions. The additional fundraising not only enhances the success of this event, but it also introduces so many more people to the mission of Indian Creek than we could ever reach on our own.”
