Saturday afternoon Route 309 and Bergey Road crash still under investigation, police say

Hatfield Police said an investigation is still underway of the cause of the accident and subsequent vehicle rescue on Route 309 Saturday afternoon that closed Bergey Road for more than four hours.

Police confirmed two vehicles were involved in the crash, which sent four people to Grand View Hospital by VMSC Emergency Medical Services.

At 4:58 p.m. Saturday, police responded to Bethlehem Pike and Bergey Road for an accident with injuries involving two vehicles, police said.

Upon arrival, police found a light blue 2011 Ford Escape, driven by a 20-year-old male, collided with a white 2021 Toyota Camry, driven by a 58-year-old male, police said. The driver had to be rescued from the Toyota.

Grand View Hospital paramedics were called to the scene to assist VMSC Emergency Medical Services.

Police said two of the injured suffered serious injuries. At this time, the names of those involved are not
being released and the investigation remains active.

Bergey Road was closed from Richmond Road to Bethlehem Pike in both directions. Route 309 South was reduced to one lane.

Hatfield Township Police were assisted at the scene by Hatfield Fire Co., Colmar FIre Co., Perseverance Fire Co., and Colmar Vol. Fire Police. 

Towamencin and Lower Gwynedd police departments assisted as part of the North Penn Area Crash Team, police said.
