Troubles End Brewing in Collegeville has recently turned a popular neighborhood bar to a semi-venue with a unique music theme night that has been gaining traction over the past two months.

The brainchild of DJ nickmakesnoise and Troubles End Brewing’s Casey Parker, the free-to-enter Pass the Mic Emo Night brings together beer, the excitement of singing along live, community, and music for one night – if you are 21 and older.

The third incarnation of Pass the Mic Emo Night happens June 28 from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the brewery on 50 W. Third Ave. in Collegeville.

On the bill: the live premiere of pop-punk Philadelphia foursome Dead Wrong, Central Pennsylvania Music Award-nominated, female-fronted 25th Hour, out of Lancaster, and loud Philly posthardcore/alt rockers Modern Culture. Plus, nickmakesnoise will do a DJ set.

Friday, April 26 was the first-ever Pass the Mic Emo Night that featured Pa. punk rockers twentytwo., Pottstown-area indie rockers Sun Blind, pop punk musician Pity for the Gourd (Aidan Mattis), and gnarly Philly garage rockers Here/Now.

The second show was held May 24 and featured post-hardcore Philly musicians Oh, Are They? and pop punk band Pine Creek Academy, who promote themselves as a band that would be enticing to fans of Four Years Strong and Neck Deep.

On the Pass the Mic Emo Night Instagram, DJ nickmakesnoise wrote that the Emo Nights are “group therapy” for himself and others like him.

“It can be a spiritual experience being in a room with a bunch of strangers connected by music that means something deeply to all of you, and so it was important for me to get bands for Pass the Mic Emo Night that really make you feel something,” the DJ wrote on Instagram.
