One of the area’s best leaders and public servants can be found daily overseeing Hatfield Township.
Township Manager Aaron Bibro was honored Thursday morning at the North Penn YMCA’s 30th Community Leaders breakfast with the 2024 Community Leader Award.
“I’m honored and overwhelmed to receive this award from the YMCA. The YMCA has been special to me throughout my life and I’m so lucky to contribute back to the organization as a board member,” Bibro, a Pittsburgh native and devoted Penguins fan, said. “I spent my summers at YMCA camps in western Pennsylvania along with being in the adventure guides with my Dad. Those are some of my favorite memories as a kid. This region is lucky to have the North Penn YMCA and I’m grateful to be a tiny part of the team.”
At the ceremony, North Penn YMCA Board member Howard Reid said Bibro, who has been the leader of Hatfield Township for 11 years, has a 16-year span of successful municipal management marked by dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to his community.
“During his tenure,” Reid said, “Aaron has consistently maintained balanced budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility while also spearheading critical infrastructure upgrades. One of his notable achievements includes the realignment of the hazardous intersection at Cowpath and Orvilla Roads, enhancing safety for all residents. Furthermore, he has significantly expanded the township’s online presence, bringing services and information closer to the community.”
“Aaron's visionary leadership extends to developing the network of trails in Hatfield Township, providing residents with beautiful and accessible outdoor spaces. He takes particular pride in the creation of the Garden of Health Farm, which has become a cornerstone of our community’s commitment to health and wellness. Additionally, his efforts to establish a new police station for Hatfield Township and Borough on Cowpath Road demonstrate his dedication to public safety and community service,” Reid said.
Bibro has been a YMCA board member for six years and chairs the Buildings and Grounds Committee.
“His commitment extends to serving on the boards of the North Penn YMCA, Delaware Valley Workers' Compensation Trust, Lower Salford Industrial Authority, and Villanova’s MPA program, where he also imparts his knowledge and experience as an adjunct professor,” Reid said.
Bibro resides in Harleysville with his wife, Rebecca, a nurse practitioner at Pennridge Pediatrics, two sons, Landon and Lucas, and their dog, Gigi. Reid said Bibro enjoys coaching and watching his two sons play sports.
“Today, we celebrate Aaron Bibro not only for his professional achievements but also for his unwavering commitment to the community. His leadership, dedication, and vision have made Hatfield Township a better place for all its residents. Please join me in honoring Aaron Bibro for his exceptional service and contributions to our community,” Reid said.
Hatfield Township congratulated Bibro on its Facebook page.
“Aaron’s servant leadership and influence have made a significant impact on the residents of our town, but also on the broader community. We are also inspired by the way Aaron leads at home, particularly in giving so much time and effort to coach his two sons. Thank you, Aaron, for all the work you do to make the world, and our Hatfield community, a better place to live, work, and play,” stated the post.
The North Penn YMCA event was also attended by State Rep. Steve Malagari and keynote speaker U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean, who addressed the theme, “A Year of Gratitude.”
