Heat got you down? Beat it — at Discover Lansdale’s next First Friday event.

August’s First Friday on Aug. 2 celebrates those big-haired, neon-hued evenings with the theme "Back to the '80s!"

Shake all night long to the beat of the band, Class of '84. While it’s probably too hot for leggings, attendees are invited to rummage through the recesses of their closets for a bit of glitter, velour and spandex. And for those too young to remember, First Friday will keep everyone chill with water and bounce amusements for kids (make sure they're in their bathing suits!), refreshments for young and old, food, juggling, face painting, dunk tank and just plain fun.

The Discover Lansdale Passport Program continues all season. If you don't yet have an entry passport, pick one up at the Discover Lansdale table. Then collect stamps by shopping, dining, and playing at participating borough businesses; when you’ve collected eight stamps, turn it in at the next First Friday. Don’t stop believin’ you have a chance to win a prize basket worth more than $300 every month!

All your favorite features are back, all season long, at First Friday’s new location and layout along Madison Street:
