Condition unknown of Lansdale teenager hit while riding her bike Monday, transferred to CHOP

Police said the adult female driver of the SUV remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Towamencin Township Police confirmed a 14-year-old girl was transferred from Grand View Hospital ER to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment of injuries suffered Monday evening when she was hit by an SUV while riding a bike.

Police said the girl’s condition was not available for release.

At 6:41 p.m. Monday, police were called to an accident involving an SUV that struck a bicyclist on Valley Forge Road at Berwick Road.

Police said the girl, from Lansdale, was injured and initially taken by VMSC Emergency Medical Services to Grand View Hospital.

The driver of the SUV – an adult female from the North Penn area – was not injured and remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

According to police, as is the standard in serious accidents, a regional police accident investigation team responded to the scene.

Valley Forge Road remained closed until 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Towamencin Township Vol. Fire Co., Upper Gwynedd Township Police and Upper Gwynedd Fire Co. assisted at the scene with traffic control, police said.

The accident investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it develops, police said.
