Construction dump truck hits pole, collapsing wires on Unionville Pike early Monday morning

A construction dump truck collided with a PP&L utility pole shortly before 12:30 a.m. Monday, bringing electrical wires down onto Unionville Pike and trapping the driver inside the cab.

Hatfield Police received an accident with injuries call at 12:28 a.m. on the 2700 block of Unionville Pike, police said.

Upon arrival, units discovered the truck struck the pole, breaking it and bringing wires down onto the truck and roadway, police said. 

Emergency personnel waited for PP&L electric to arrive and cut power, before safely removing the driver, per reports from the scene. 

The driver was removed about an hour after the call at 1:21 a.m., per reports.

Hatfield Police were assisted at the scene by Hatfield Vol. Fire Co., Hilltown Fire Co., Perseverance Fire Police, and VMSC Emergency Medical Services.
