Dr. Mayank Amin is a believer that if you are passionate about something and you want to make a difference in people's lives, then success follows.

When he re-opened Skippack Pharmacy after it was shuttered by CVS, Amin did not know what the reaction would be to taking on such a risk.

"No dollar amount can be put on what being in business did for the community," said Amin at his pharmacy's five year anniversary party at the Montgomery County 4-H Center in Skippack Township Friday evening.

"It's about community, and the community showed up in numbers. We had more than 1,300 people here," he said. "The last five years has shown us what happens when the community comes together and this celebrates that."

The anniversary event have music from Former Strangers Band, a JeffStat helicopter landing, yard games, inflatables and more.

"It started at 6 p.m. and people have been here more than two hours," Amin said.

Amin said the anniversary is about a story of miracles happening and experiencing the unexpected.

"Having 1,000 volunteers with us throughout the pandemic is not something people normally expect. A helicopter getting canceled and then calling and saying, 'We have a lot of community heroes here, can you do something?' and 15 minutes later, it was here. We put this event together in 10 days or less," he said.

Just like the thousands of volunteers during the pandemic, or the thousands that packed North Penn High School for Covid vaccinations with "Dr. Mak" in his Superman outfit, where Skippack Pharmacy goes, the thousands follow.

"It's great to have people who are patients, volunteers, and community members come together to celebrate," he said. "We are glad we helped the community and the community helped us."
