The defendant's husband refused to pay her bill, police said.
A New Britain Township woman is accused of a dine-and-dash from a Skippack Township pizza restaurant, in an incident where her husband refused to pay the bill for her.
Jennifer Anne Sames, 54, of the 200 block of Cornwall Drive, Chalfont, was charged last month by Pennsylvania State Police with misdemeanor theft of services by deception and disorderly conduct through unreasonable noise for the June 9 incident at Giuseppe’s Pizza, 3509 Skippack Pike, Cedars, police said.
At 9:05 p.m., police arrived to the pizza restaurant for a report of a patron leaving the premises without paying for her meal, per the affidavit, where they encountered Sames standing next to her 2011 silver Mercury Milan.
During an interview in the parking lot, Sames told police she arrived at the restaurant to eat with her fiancé, but her fiancé did not show up, police said. Furthermore, she told police she had no cash to pay the $55 bill, but tried to pay with two different credit cards, with each declined, per the complaint.
Sames said she called her husband, but, police said, he refused to come to Giuseppe’s Pizza and pay for her meal; Sames did not have a cell phone and could not call anyone else to come and pay for her food.
A server at the restaurant told police Sames came in and ate a meal, then gave two cards to pay for the meal, with each of them getting declined, police said. Sames, per the witness, went outside to call her husband, but then she got into her car and attempted to leave, according to authorities.
The server blocked Sames from leaving the scene and called 911. Police said the server also talked to Sames’ husband via phone, but he told them, “No.”
Police called Sames’ husband at 9:14 p.m., and he told police he was not going to pay for his wife’s meal, calling her “delusional,” according to the affidavit. He told police he was not supporting his wife in the situation because she did not understand the concept, police said.
Sames was charged via summons on Monday, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 11 at 2:45 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Adam T. Katzman.
