The North Penn School District (NPSD) is offering several summer programs for students to reinforce skills and continue learning.
The Elementary Virtual Enrichment Program is designed for students in grades K-6 to reinforce and strengthen grade level standards and skills to accelerate learning in all subject areas. The work is completed virtually, and new content is posted each Monday throughout the summer to provide students with a self-paced activity. Weekly themed activities are provided to reinforce and expand upon grade level standards and skills.
The Summer Program for Academic Readiness for Knights (SPARK) is designed for students in grades K-6 to reinforce and strengthen foundational skills in reading and math. This program provides a boost for students who need additional practice and time to develop these skills. Key components of the program include literary instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, fluency, comprehension, and writing. The program will also work on foundational mathematical skill instruction. SPARK is an invitation-only program for students who will most benefit.
The district is also offering an Elementary English Language Development (ELD) Summer Program to reinforce and strengthen newly acquired English language skills for newcomer and beginner English learner students entering grades K-6. The program will focus on a variety of techniques to improve oral, listening, speaking, and writing skills, and an introduction to nonfiction literature.
Each of these programs are offered at no cost to students, and funded through Title III and ESSER.
