Area Fire Companies Respond to Third Garage Fire in Eight Days

Area fire companies battled a blaze in a detached garage in Hatfield Township Saturday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched to the 2200 block of Line Lexington Road at 3:07 p.m. on Jan. 20 for a report of a building fire. Arriving first responders encountered a fully involved fire in a detached garage, along with a vehicle fire that was parked next to the garage. Smoke from the fire engulphed the nearby neighborhood, and was visible from Bethlehem Pike, according to sources at the scene.

The fire was placed under control approximately 20 minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene, but not before both the garage and the vehicle suffered extensive damage. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.

No injuries were reported.

Colmar Fire Company was assisted at the scene by units from Hatfield, Hilltown, Fairmount and Hartsville fire companies, as well as units from the Hatfield Police Department, Hatfield Township Public Works, and VMSC Emergency Medical Services.

For area firefighters, Saturday’s incident marks the third garage fire in eight days. The prior two incident included a garage fire on Penn Street in Lansdale on Jan. 12, and a fire on Addison Lane in Montgomery Township several days later.
