Round House to Permanently Close This Weekend, Round Guys to Reopen Taproom in Same Location

Round House in Lansdale will permanently close this weekend, less than one year after taking over Round Guys Brewing Company’s taproom on South Wood Street.

The upscale drink and dining location launched in March 2023 to much local fanfare, with a remodeling of the interior of the taproom, expanding seating, an overhauled menu, and an accompanying cocktail program. The restaurant was the result of a partnership between Round Guys Brewing Company and JGCE LLC, who operate and manage destination restaurants in Harleysville’s Butcher and Barkeep and Souderton’s Northbound.

Round Guys Brewing Company founder and co-owner Scott Rudich said the closure is a result of the restaurant losing money, resulting in the dissolution of the partnership. The last day of operation for Round House will be Sunday, Jan. 14.

"We were very excited about our opportunity in Lansdale and our partnership with Round Guys,” said Cody Ferdinand, of JGCE. "We are proud of the beautiful space we built and the product and service we offered our guests. We are appreciative of the support we received from the community. Unfortunately, the restaurant business is a shrewd one. We just weren’t able to get enough butts in seats to support the venture further."

"We wish Round Guys the best in their further endeavors and thank the people of Lansdale for their support this last year,” Ferdinand said. "Lastly, we want to thank our amazing staff who offered a dedicated and loving effort. Please drop by this weekend for a final goodbye before we close the doors Sunday.”

All is not lost, however.

Rudich said Round Guys Brewing Company still has the lease on the building, and they intend to retool the space and bring back their local taproom, which is expected to relaunch within one week of the closure of Round House.

"We’re going to retool, reopen as a taproom, and bring back all the things that people loved about Round Guys,” Rudich said. "We’ll also bring back some of the best parts of The Underground, and we want to resume our drag shows as well. We want to reconnect with the community, as we did prior to Round House opening.”

Food will be missing from the menu upon their relaunch, Rudich said, as they survey the best course of action on the kitchen side of things. He added that they may partner with local food providers and food trucks initially, until they decide on how to proceed with the menu and kitchen.

And for those fans of Round House's "sexy fries," they can still be found at Northbound in Souderton and Butcher and Barkeep in Harleysville.
