Five Points Intersection in Montgomeryville to Receive $14 Million in Upgrades and Improvements

The Five Points Intersection in Montgomery Township will be getting $14.2 million in upgrades and improvements, beginning Jan. 29, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The project, financed with 100% federal funds, will improve travel and safety at the crossroads of Route 463 (Horsham Road/Cowpath Road), Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike), and Business U.S. Route 202 (Doylestown Road).

PennDOT’s contractor, Road-Con Inc. of Wester Chester, will install the following improvements:

  • Additional through lanes in both directions on Route 463 and southbound Route 309

  • Widening of roadway to allow 18 travel lanes versus the current 15 travel lanes to improve traffic flow and reduce crashes

  • Upgrading and retaining signalization

  • Installing sidewalks and ADA curb ramps

  • Installing new guiderails

  • Upgrading stormwater drainage

  • Upgrading signage and pavement markings

  • Adjusting driveway access

  • Reducing erosion sediment

PennDOT claimed the intersection improvements on Route 463 and Route 309 will enhance traffic flow for westbound Route 463 motorists turning right onto northbound Business U.S. 202.

From Jan. 29 to early March, there will be periodic lane closures for tree clearing and utility work at the following locations:

  • Route 309 between North Wales Road and McLaughlin Road

  • Route 463 between Lansdale Avenue and North Wales Road

  • Route 202 between Route 309 and Betty’s Avenue
