A California man who was 19 when he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in her Franconia Township home in July 2021 was sentenced to four to eight years in state prison and must report as a Megan’s Law sex offender for life, according to The Reporter.
Ehven Jacob Dela-Cruz Galang, 21, of Los Angeles, pleaded guilty in December 2022 to charges of interference with the custody of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child less than 16, corruption of a minor and unlawful contact or communication with a minor, according to the report. Judge Thomas M. DelRicci ordered Galang to complete three years’ probation consecutive to parole, which means he is under court supervision for 11 years.
Per the report, Galang must report his address to police for his lifetime to comply with Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act.
According to the Pottstown Mercury, Galang faced a maximum sentence of 43 ½ to 87 years in prison. Galang has remained in jail without bail since December 2022.
The investigation began July 13, 2021, at 9:35 p.m. when Franconia Township Police responded to a Branch Mill Road home after the victim’s mother reported her missing from the home, per reports. The home surveillance system recorded the girl leaving the home with Galang at 7:53 p.m., who was carrying luggage belonging to the girl, according to police.
Police located Galang and the victim at the Philadelphia International Airport on July 14 and he was taken into custody, police said.
