No Changes to Leadership Posts in North Wales for 2024

A new year has brought back several familiar faces in familiar places in North Wales.

Council held their reorganization meeting on Jan. 2 and held over all of their leadership positions from the prior term, according to borough staff.

In November 2023 the town’s residents reelected all six incumbent Democrat council members who were on the ballot, returning councilwomen Wendy McClure from Ward 1 and Anji Fazio from Ward 3 for two-year terms, and council members Sherwin Collins and Brittany Kohler from Ward 1 and Sal Amato and Mark Tarlecki in Ward 2 for four-year terms.

All six received their oaths from District Judge Suzan Leonard on Tuesday night, borough staff said this week, and held over all leadership posts from the last council reorganization in 2022, with Amato as council president, Tarlecki as vice president and McClure as president pro tempore if the other two are unavailable.

The only action item approved during the meeting was a December bills list totaling just over $30,000, and council chose to defer talks on reappointment members of various volunteer boards and commissions until upcoming council meetings on Jan. 9 and 23.

Vacant seats after December departures and appointments include three open spots on the town’s human relations commission, running through 2024, 2025 and 2026 respectively; one each on the Historical Architectural Review Board (must be a licensed real estate broker) and on the Nor-Gwyn Pool Commission running through 2028, one on the planning commission running through 2024 and two on the zoning board, running through 2025 and 2027 respectively, and new openings possible on the borough Historic Commission, North Wales Area Library board (open to non-residents), North Wales Water Authority board, and parks and recreation board.

Anyone interested in serving in any of those positions can contact Hart with a letter of interest and resume by emailing [email protected] or at 300 School Street, North Wales PA, 19454. Borough council next meets at 7 p.m. on Jan. 9 and 23, both at that address; for more information visit www.NorthWalesBorough.org.
