Jennifer Schorn Sworn-In as New District Attorney for Bucks County

Jennifer Schorn was officially sworn in as Bucks County’s new district attorney in a ceremony at the Justice Center last Friday.

The longtime prosecutor has succeeded Matt Weintraub, who has become a Court of Common Pleas judge.

Schorn was administered the oath of office by Weintraub in a packed courtroom. The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including family, friends, staff from the district attorney’s office, local law enforcement, attorneys, and Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry, who served as the county’s district attorney to fill a vacancy in 2008.

The newly appointed district attorney assumed the acting role last Monday following the start of Weintraub’s judicial term.

"I thank you all for being here, it really means the world,” Schorn said at her swearing in.

With a career spanning over two decades in the district attorney’s office, Schorn started as an assistant district attorney in 1999. She was appointed as the first assistant district attorney job in 2021. She previously held key positions such as chief of trials and chief of the grand jury division.

Raised in Upper Southampton Township, Schorn is a graduate of Archbishop Wood High School and Widener University Law School.

Throughout her career, Schorn has been at the forefront of several high-profile cases in Bucks County, including several cold case homicides.

In his final days as district attorney, Weintraub said he felt Schorn would do a good job as district attorney. He said her appointment will give her a chance to lead.

Schorn is set to serve as district attorney until the conclusion of Weintraub’s term in 2025. She also has the opportunity to run for election to secure the position for a full term.
