Lansdale Police have released the identity of the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Church Road three days before Christmas.
Police were dispatched to the intersection of Church Road and Station Square Boulevard at 8:48 p.m. on Dec. 22 for a report of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle. Dispatch radio traffic indicated a male victim was lying unconscious in the roadway, and first responders were performing CPR.
The pedestrian — identified as 57-year-old Victor Bonanni — was transported from the scene via ambulance to Lansdale Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said Bonanni had entered the roadway between Pennbrook Parkway and Station Square Boulevard and was struck by a vehicle that was traveling southbound on Church Road. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene, and was cooperating with the investigation, police said.
Church Road was closed for several hours between the Pennbrook Train Station and Station Square Boulevard as first responders worked to process and clear the scene. Lansdale Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Upper Gwynedd, Hatfield, and Towamencin police departments, as well as VMSC Emergency Medical Services and area fire police.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Lansdale Borough Police Department and the North Penn Regional Crash Investigation Team.
