Area fire companies were dispatched to a garage fire along the unit block of Highland Park Road in Hilltown Township Monday night.
Crews were dispatched to the scene at 10:25 p.m. for a report of a dwelling fire. Arriving first responders encountered heavy fire in a two-car garage attached to a single-story home, with the occupants having already evacuated. Additionally, multiple witnesses at the scene reported hearing at least one explosion, believed to have been caused by propane tanks stored inside of the garage.
There were no reports of injuries as of the time of publication, but there were multiple area emergency medical crews on scene.
Firefighters placed the blaze under control just before 11 p.m. Both the garage and two nearby vehicles suffered heavy damage as a result of the fire, and ventilation holes were cut into the roof of the main residence as well. In a release posted to Facebook, Sellersville Fire Company said the fire was contained to the garage and did not spread to the home itself.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Sellersville Fire Company was assisted at the scene by units from Telford Fire Company, Perkasie Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, and other area fire and emergency medical teams.
