Malagari Celebrates $111,254 in Grant Funding for Local Fire, EMS

State Rep. Steve Malagari has announced the allocation of $111,254 in grant funding to organizations within the 53rdDistrict, aimed at bolstering the capabilities of institutions crucial to maintaining the safety and well-being of residents.

"These grants represent a significant investment in the infrastructure and resources necessary to ensure the safety and security of our community," Malagari said. "It's gratifying to see funds directed toward the organizations that work tirelessly to keep our residents safe."

The following organizations have been awarded grants:

  • Fairmount Fire Co. No. 1: $16,951.

  • Fire Department of Montgomery Township: $16,951.

  • Hatfield Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1: $16,951.

  • Montgomery Township Department of Fire Services: $16,951.

  • Telford Volunteer Fire Co.: $15,000.

  • Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale: $28,450.

The grant funding is earmarked for various projects including:

  • Construction and/or renovation of facilities, as well as the purchase or repair of fixtures and furnishings necessary for the provision of fire, ambulance, and rescue services.

  • Purchase or repair of firefighting, ambulance, or rescue equipment.

  • Reduction of debt associated with facilities or equipment.

  • Training and certification of members.

  • Materials for fire prevention education for the public.

  • Programs aimed at attracting and retaining volunteer firefighters.

"These grants not only support the operational needs of our fire companies and emergency medical services but also invest in the training and education necessary for their continued effectiveness,” Malagari said. "I am grateful for the efforts of the grant program in recognizing and supporting the invaluable services provided by these institutions.”

Act 91 of 2020 authorized the Fire Company and Medical Services Grant Program until June 30, 2024. Recently, Gov. Josh Shapiro proposed increasing the program’s funding to $60 million.
