Black Reserve Bookstore and Ambler NAACP to Host Black History Month Events

In celebration of Black History Month, the Ambler Branch of the NAACP and the Black Reserve Bookstore in Lansdale will be hosting several events.

On Feb. 25, the Ambler Branch of the NAACP will hold a Black History Month Celebration at The Ambler Theater, complete with a free movie screening and a reception. The free event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitors can purchase small popcorn and soda for $3.

On Feb. 17 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., author Cynthia Culbreath will launch her newest literary creation entitled "Olympic Leap” at the Black Reserve Bookstore in Lansdale.

This book contains the history of her cousin Josh Culbreath of Norristown, a stellar hurdler who embraced the complexity of his sport with unwavering fortitude. His refusal to quit, coupled with triumphs in meticulously laid plans, exemplified the power of destiny fueled by his unwavering belief. The stories woven into the book unveil the journey of Culbreath, transcending the confines of family tales and reaching into the realms of Olympic glory, hometown camaraderie and the era of segregation that failed to hold him back.

On Feb. 25, the Black Reserve Bookstore in Lansdale will hold its annual book bag and school supply giveaway. All items will be free. The event will also feature food and music, with DJ Tone Arm playing a number of hit songs. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m.
