Hatfield Police have filed charges against two Philadelphia women who were allegedly part of a group that stole nearly $7,000 in perfume from the Kohls on Welsh Road last June.
Investigators said the incident occurred on June 5, 2023, around 9:30 p.m. when five females entered the store and proceeded to the Sephora section. Two of the females then distracted an employee while the other three women filled a shopping cart with perfume, police said.
In total, the
five females stole 75 bottles of various fragrances, with a combined value of
$6,927, police said.
Using facial recognition software, investigators identified two of the women involved in the incident, police said. Both women will face felony conspiracy counts of theft by unlawful taking, retail theft, and receiving stolen property.
Police are withholding the names of the two women as they have not yet been arraigned, and efforts to identify the other three suspects are ongoing.
Investigators said one of the two identified suspects has 12 prior retail theft convictions in Pennsylvania and an extensive criminal history in New Jersey. Both women are also suspects in similar thefts in East Norriton and Upper Merrion townships, according to police.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
