The Pavilion at Mainland Wedding and Event Venue Opens in Harleysville

Sal Lapio cuts the ribbon at the grand opening celebration of the Pavilion at Mainland, a new wedding and event venue in Harleysville.

The Pavilion at Mainland celebrated its grand opening recently with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Located at the Mainland Golf Course in Harleysville, the new wedding and event venue is owned by Sal and Maria Lapio of Sal Lapio Homes, a local home building company founded in 1982. Dozens of family members, employees, contractors, elected officials and others came out for the ceremony.

"This turned out beautiful,” said Steven Hunsberger, executive director of the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce.

"We are honored that you’re still here and reinvesting in our community,” said Towamencin Township Supervisor Laura Smith. "We look forward to years of supporting you here.”

State Rep. Donna Scheuren recognized the Lapios with a certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

"We greatly appreciate your future contributions to the Commonwealth’s state revenue,” said Scheuren. "This is exciting stuff for our district.”

The Lapios first purchased the property in 1993, adding a restaurant, The Grille, in 1995. They currently own two other golf courses, including the Bella Vista Golf Course in Gilbertsville and the Morgan Hill Golf Course in Easton.

The properties are managed by the Lapios’ daughters, Rosann and Linda. Rosann said that the family always planned to build a wedding facility at Mainland, noting the family’s success with wedding facilities at the Bella Vista and Morgan Hill golf courses.

"We’ve been doing weddings for about 25 years and have had great success at the other courses,” she said. "We wanted to do it here just to mirror the other properties.”

In addition to wedding ceremonies and reception, Rosann said that the Pavilion will host corporate functions and community events, including a dueling pianos event in February and a beer fest.

"Our goal is not only to do weddings but to do a lot of corporate functions and even have house events for the community,” she said.

Rosann said that the Pavilion’s first wedding is scheduled for February 10. Moving forward, she hopes the venue underscores the Lapios’ commitment to Mainland.

"When Sal and Maria bought it, because he’s a home builder, everyone was convinced we were gonna build houses,” she said. "So it’s kind of exciting because I feel like, now that we did this, people understand our commitment to the community, to the township, that we plan on being here for a while.”
