The incident involving two people found dead inside a locked motel room at Knights Inn, in Montgomery Township Saturday morning remains under investigation by Montgomery County detectives and the District Attorney's Office. and authorities await word from the county Coroner on the causes and manners of death.
"It is still under investigation," said Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele during a Q&A following a press conference on an Upper Dublin murder investigation. "In that case, the families have been notified of it. The door was locked from the inside, so I don't anticipate we will proceed on it."
Steele confirmed both individuals were shot, but it is now up to the coroner to made "determinations on [if it was a murder suicide]."
According to county dispatch, emergency responders were initially called to the Montgomeryville motel on the 900 block of Bethlehem Pike. around 11:16 a.m. on Saturday for the report of an unconscious male.
Emergency medical services personnel from VMSC EMS arrived at the scene, later determining that there were two victims with gunshot wounds inside of the room, both of whom were already dead.
Early reports from the scene noted that the motel room’s outdoor-facing door was chain locked from the inside. A witness from a nearby room said that they heard an argument in the vicinity of the incident earlier in the morning.
Montgomery Township Police confirmed Monday that the case was taken over by county authorities.
