2-car crash knocks out power, traffic lights at Cowpath and Orvilla Tuesday night

Update, 9 p.m.: Hatfield Police said Orvilla Road is closed from Cowpath Road to the Snyder Square Shopping Center entrance, due to utility pole repair. 

PP&L is on scene.

A two-car crash Tuesday evening at Cowpath and Orvilla roads in Hatfield Township has knocked out power to those near the intersection, including traffic lights and the Snyder Square Shopping Center, as one of the vehicles has collided with a utility pole.

According to Montgomery County emergency dispatch reports, at least one car is unoccupied and the driver is not on scene. The accident involves a blue Kia, which crashed into the pole, on Orvilla, near Cabin Road.

Wires are down in the roadway, however they are not arcing or sparking, per reports from the scene.

There were reports of a blown transformer in the wake of the crash.

Hatfield Police are on scene with VMSC Emergency Medical Services, Colmar Fire and Hatfield Vol. Fire Co.  

At least one person is being treated at the scene by VMSC personnel.

Avoid the area.
