A Harleysville house fire has displaced a family just days after Christmas, and the community has already taken action to lend a helping hand.
As reported this morning by North Penn Now here, emergency responders were called to the 300 block of Maple Avenue in Lower Salford Township to the report of a building fire. The crews encountered a two-story, garage-style apartment building, that was showing both smoke and fire.
While the first responders were able to bring the fire under control quickly, area streets remained closed until 4:30 p.m. Friday. Jessica Harm, a friend of the family, has created a GoFundMe post to quickly assist this family in need.
Harm said that the family’s mother, Jennifer, was just home recovering after two weeks in a hospital when the fire broke out this morning. She said her husband was at work, while two of her children ran to a store. Bravely, the mother was able to save the family’s dog and three cats, climbing out a window to reach safety, according to Harm’s post.
While plenty of questions around where the family can even begin to rebuild their lives, the GoFundMe can be found here, where area residents can donate any amount to the displaced parents, children, and pets.
The cause of the fire, which reportedly began in the family room, has not yet been released. No injuries were reported at this time either.
