With instances of package theft popping up in the area, police offered advise on how to protect your deliveries.
While the holiday season is a time for joy and celebration, it is also a time when we see an increase in package thefts. We want to provide you with a few tips and tools to protect your deliveries.
- Install a home security camera.
- Utilize alternate shipping methods like Amazon lockers or in-store pickup.
- Ask a trusted neighbor to pick up your packages.
- Use package tracking to tell you when your package is delivered.
- Consider using a porch lock box that delivery drivers can access and place packages inside.
- Have your package delivered to your workplace/office.
- Request a signature be required.
- Provide delivery instructions and authorize the carrier to leave it in a specified location that is out of sight.
- If you are a delivery driver, be mindful of vehicles following you on your route.
- Report any suspicious behavior.
