Authorities allege a Roslyn man was smoking crack when he assaulted a Franconia Township resident inside their home by banging their head on the wall and floor and punching them in the face for being a “cop caller.”

Dane Edward Conley, 30, of the 2700 block of Turner Avenue, Roslyn, was charged Friday, Dec. 13 with felony counts of aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, according to charging documents.

Conley is also charged with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, intentional possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and terroristic threats, per court records.

On Dec. 13, at 2:24 a.m., Franconia Police responded to Bergey Road for a report of an altercation, police said.

When arriving on scene, police saw Conley run across the street away from the home, and stopped him, police said. Conley was erratic and he had dilated pupils and was sweating profusely, police allege. Furthermore, he was bleeding from the mouth, police said. He was arrested and detained by police.

During a search of Conley’s belongings, police found a crack pipe in his pocket, according to the complaint.

Police then found a black plastic bag wrapped around his right leg, above the ankle, under his pants, police said. Inside the bag were three clear bags with multiple orange medicine bottles filled with a white rock-like substance, per the affidavit.

Authorities also found a bundle of copper wiring, two lighters and another broken glass pipe, per the complaint.

The victim suffered swelling to the left knee, bleeding from the mouth, a possible broken tooth, swelling on the right side of the face, and multiple scratch marks on their face and chest, police said.

The victim told police that Conley came home after returning a family member’s vehicle, and when confronted outside, the victim saw Conley going through a black plastic bag, per the complaint. Conley had multiple small orange caps with a substance in them, along with a crack pipe in Conley’s hand, police said.

An argument began and Conley became very aggressive, police said. The victim ran inside for safety and Conley chased her inside, per the complaint.

A witness to the alleged assault told police that the victim came running into their room and tried blocking the door with their body weight so Conley could not get in, police said. Conley forced his way into the room, grabbed the victim by the back of the head and began assaulting them, police said.

Conley was taken to Grand View Hospital at 3:16 a.m. for evaluation, and once cleared, taken to Montgomery County jail, police said.

The victim was treated by VMSC EMS, police said.

Conley remains at Montgomery County jail on a $50,077 bail and a probation/parole detainer, per court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 29 at 11:15 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Adam T. Katzman.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
