Last year, Lansdale resident Christina Ottaviano successfully helped unite the community in donating to Fairmount Fire Co. of Lansdale, as more than $500 went toward covering their company dinner following the Santa Run.

The South Richardson Avenue resident had called the Santa Run an event that the town values so much as a Lansdale tradition.

The tradition returns again this Saturday, kicking off at 4:30 p.m. by Fairmount, and, thus, Ottaviano’s new tradition is back too. In fact, she has already started to amass donations from local residents in order to treat the volunteers and show their appreciation.

“So far, I have raised $365 toward the Fairmount Fire Company's annual catered dinner. I set the goal at $400 for this year but would love to see it reach $500 to cover catering, drinks and desserts,” she said.

On Dec. 12, the fire company marked its 600th call for the year – and then added three more that day.

Lansdale Tavern's Julie Palermo has stepped up to offer funds toward the dinner, Ottaviano said.

“Every contribution counts, no matter how big or small! Let's show our firefighters some love and gratitude this holiday season,” she said.

Donate toward the cause by sending via Venmo to @christinalottaviano (verification code 2552) or mail a check directly to the fire company. Cash is accepted and can be dropped off at 7 p.m. on Thursdays at the fire house.

Donations will be accepted until Friday.
