A Towamencin Township man and Kutztown University junior turned himself in to Hatfield Police Tuesday morning on two counts each of vehicular homicide and homicide by vehicle while DUI for his alleged role in a June crash that claimed the lives of a husband and wife.

Michael Patrick Lennon, 21, of Ridgewood Way, will be processed and arraigned this afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Richard H. Welsh in Limerick Township, according to court records. Bail will be set at arraignment.

Lennon is also charged with three misdemeanor counts of DUI of a controlled substance, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and two summary charges of speeding and failure to obey traffic control devices, per court records.

A vehicular homicide conviction in Pennsylvania carries a prison sentence of up to seven years and fines as high as $15,000 per offense.

Authorities allege Lennon was driving a light blue 2011 Ford Escape on June 8 when he collided with a white 2021 Toyota Camry at Route 309 and Bergey Road in Hatfield Township. Four people were sent to Grand View Hospital after the crash for treatment of injuries.

One of the victims, a 58-year-old man, had to be rescued from the Toyota. Emergency crews were on scene for four hours.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine, per court records.

Police said they are not releasing the names of the deceased out of respect for the family.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
