Witnesses have reported drones the size of a small car flying over an Army facility, power lines and police stations.
Today, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) issued the following statement urging immediate federal action to address the mounting concerns surrounding unexplained drone activity in the Philadelphia region and neighboring New Jersey:
“The growing reports of unexplained drone activity in the Philadelphia region and our neighboring state of New Jersey demand immediate and decisive federal action. As Chairman of the National Intelligence Enterprise Subcommittee on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), I am treating this matter with the urgency it requires and taking proactive steps to safeguard our public safety and national security.
I am actively coordinating with federal law enforcement agencies and have requested a classified briefing to receive a comprehensive understanding of these incidents. This is not a time for complacency—it is a time for action and accountability.
While initial briefings indicate no immediate threat to public safety, I take seriously the legitimate concerns of my constituents, our neighbors in New Jersey, and the broader American public. I am calling on our federal agencies to immediately increase resources dedicated to investigating this escalating issue and to deliver a thorough public briefing. Transparency is not optional—it is a necessity. I will continue to push for swift action, full accountability, and clear communication to ensure the safety, security, and peace of mind of our community and our nation. The American people deserve nothing less.”
If you observe any unidentified drone activity or have information related to these sightings, we ask you please report it to the FBI by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submitting photos or details online at tips.fbi.gov.”
This is the lowest I’ve seen the drones in NJ flying over our neighborhood. This is in Flanders, NJ near the Flanders Valley Golf Course. If any news outlets want to use this or reach out, my DMs are open. My family has been seeing the drones in our town for almost 2 weeks. pic.twitter.com/lP05KEzLZT
On Tuesday, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy called the drones “very sophisticated” and said they go dark the minute you get your eyes on them, according to Newsweek. Witnesses said they are about the size of a small car.
Authorities said there is no threat to public safety.
Murphy said that there were 49 reported sightings on Sunday, predominantly in Hunterdon County, per Newsweek.
Drones have been reported near the Picatinny Arsenal, which is a U.S. military facility, as well as at President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course in Bedminster, over electric transmission lines and reservoirs, and above police stations.
