A Franconia Township woman has been accused of shoplifting $150 worth of luxury face creams, dog treats, crab cakes and crab clusters from the Warminster Township Giant Food Store, and police connected her to another theft incident at the store.

Kimberly Ann Metz, 54, of the 400 block of Mininger Road, Franconia Township, faces felony charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property filed Monday by Warminster Township Police, according to court records.

On Sept. 26, at 12:17 p.m., police were dispatched to the Giant at 720 W. Street Road for a report of shoplifting. Asset Protection officials told police that a woman wearing an Arby’s shirt was seen walking out the produce section side doors with a reusable bag that did not come from the registers, police said.

Surveillance video showed Metz entering the store at 10:44 a.m. via the doors by the produce area with a reusable bag, police allege. She walked to the seafood section, selected crab cakes and crab clusters and placed them in the bag, police said. Metz then allegedly went to the pet aisle and placed two bags of dog treats into the bag, per the complaint.

She then walked to the health and beauty section, where she allegedly stole numerous high-end face creams, before exiting the store through the produce side doors, police said.  She then drove away in a late model silver Chevrolet Lumina, per the affidavit.

On Nov. 5, at 11 a.m., Metz was detained at GIant for another alleged retail theft, police said. While police were investigating the incident, the manager told police that Metz was the suspect in the September theft, according to the complaint.

On the Nov. 5 incident, Metz was allegedly driving the same Chevrolet Lumina and had a bag of dog treats in the backseat.

Metz is free on $15,000 unsecured bail and has a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 6 at 1:30 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Christopher O’Neill.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
