An alert FedEx driver who reported smoke coming from a home on the 200 block of Cricklewood Circle in Montgomery Township Friday afternoon is what led fire authorities to knock down a house fire Friday afternoon within a half-hour.

A fire call was reported at 12:36 p.m. via Montgomery County emergency dispatch, and firefighters from at least 12 area agencies and VMSC Emergency Medical Services responded within minutes.

Responding units included Colmar Fire Co., Fairmount Fire Co. of Lansdale, Horsham Fire Co., Hatfield Vol. Fire Co., Fire Department of Montgomery Township, North Penn Vol. Fire Co., Wissahickon Fire Co., Chalfont Fire Co. in Bucks County, and Telford Fire Co.

Hilltown Township Fire and Perkasie Fire companies were also called to assist at the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found an active third-story attic fire of an attached twin home, with smoke coming out of a window. The home has solar panels on the roof for solar energy.

Fire crews reportedly vented the attic via a hole in the roof.

The fire was under control shortly after 1 p.m.

Cricklewood is closed at Richardson Road.

The FedEx driver reportedly knocked on the door of the home to see if anyone was home, but no one answered the door, per reports. He then knocked on the adjoining neighbor's door to alert them of the fire and leave the house.
